Creates one chance Tuesday
Modric registered one shot (zero on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Tuesday's 1-0 win versus Panama.
Analysis: Modric made his 200th appearance for Croatia Tuesday, an impressive milestone for the 40-year-old. It wasn't his best World Cup appearance, but he still helped his side earn a much-needed victory. He nearly recorded an assist in the 57th minute when he played Marco Pasalic through on goal, but Pasalic flubbed the chance. Modric also took his first shot of the tournament, a weak header attempt in the opening minutes. He played a hard 81 minutes before being subbed off for Mario Pasalic. Next up is the final group stage match versus Ghana, a must-win match in order to finish second in the group.
Difficult first game
Modric had one cross (zero accurate) and one interception in Wednesday's 4-2 defeat to England.
Analysis: Modric conceded an early penalty after swinging his boot at Noni Madueke instead of the ball while attempting to clear a corner, with Harry Kane converting on the retake to open the scoring in Wednesday's 4-2 defeat to England. He struggled to control the tempo of the match as he has done for most of his career, also having his pocket picked by Elliot Anderson in the buildup to the penalty, and was substituted for Mateo Kovacic in the 58th minute on his 199th appearance for Croatia. Despite the disappointing result, Modric's appearance made him just the second European player to feature at 10 different major tournaments, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
